The Rev. Christopher David Jubinski

Installation ChrisFather Chris Jubinski was installed as the 45th rector of Christ Church, Chaptico, on March 6, 2016.  The Rt. Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, Bishop of Washington, formalized his call, binding him in mutual ministry with the Christ Church congregation.

Father Chris accepted the vestry’s call to be the rector and joined the parish October 6, 2015.

Father Chris has 16 years’ experience as a priest, most recently at St. Paul’s, Centreville, MD, where he was the rector for eight years. He also served as assisting priest at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Easton, assisting the dean with preaching, celebrating, and pastoral care.

As rector in Centreville, Father Chris had oversight of a $3.5 million project to restore, renovate, and expand St. Paul’s historic campus and facilitated use of the space by more than 20 community organizations. He also served as president of the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Easton and chair of the board of Camp Wright, the diocesan camp.

From 2001 to 2006 he was rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Santa Paula, CA. He also served as associate rector at Christ Church, Alexandria, VA, and assistant rector at Christ Episcopal Church, Ridley Park, PA.

At all his clergy posts Father Chris has been deeply involved in engaging adults and youth in Christian formation, reaching outside the church walls to include others. In Santa Paula, he invited a Lutheran congregation to use the parish’s space. Eventually they formed common ministries, and now they are a fully merged congregation. He also served as chaplain to the Santa Paula Fire Department.

Father Chris says he places a premium on the importance of pastoral care. “I consider pastoral care for others to be one of my greatest strength as a priest,” he wrote in his application. “It is important to be aware of what is happening in the lives of the people that I minister to, to be sensitive to people’s needs and also know my limits in how to respond to those needs. In general, regular pastoral calls/visits are a priority for me, regardless of how far the visit may take me.”

Father Chris has a M.Div. from the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York, where he was president of his class. He has a B.A. in philosophy from St. Basil’s College in Stamford, CT, and also did coursework in theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

He is married to Carol Ann Jubinski, Field Education Coordinator at the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria. Carol works with seminarians as they serve internships and do clinical pastoral education at hospitals or nursing homes. She also works with graduates and clergy mentors in other continuing education programs. They are residing in the Christ Church rectory. Their family consists of son CJ, daughter Ashleigh, and daughter Victoria Kennedy and her husband, Dustin.
